Advanced Automation Integration - Now Playing from WideOrbit (Futuri Streaming)

This article will walk you through the export of Now Playing data from "WideOrbit Automation for Radio" to your Futuri Streaming Transmitter. There are two steps in the configuration of your Now Playing feed with WideOrbit.

  1. XML Event Driver (Central Server Configuration)
  2. Event Rule Set Mapping for (direct metadata exports to selected destinations)
Note: In addition you will be required to send the IP address of your studio PC to Futuri VIP Support (as the streaming transmitter will pull Now Playing data from that address).

XML Event Driver:

The Event Driver tells WideOrbit what data to publish and when to transmit that data.

Step 1 - Select "Now Playing" located under the "Configuration" menu item on the left side of the Central Server Configuration user interface.

Central Server Configuration Screen

Step 2 - Click the "Event Driver" tab, and select the link to "Add New Event Driver".

Now Playing/ Event Drivers Tab

Step 3 - Enter a descriptive "Drive Name" (i.e. Futuri Streaming).

Step 4 -  Define the events that will trigger the export. Defining both the "Start Play" and the "Stack Change" events will allow WideOrbit to export data for both the current on-air event and upcoming events. To initiate this process, you will first need to configure the "Start Play Event" , then click the +/plus button to add the "Stack Change Event".

Start Play Event FieldDescription
Event: includes three componentsExport Trigger: Select "Start Play" from the drop-down list.
Output: WideOrbit can send metadata for events that play on "All Output Channels" or on specific channels. Typically you would select "All Outputs". However, if you decide to send metadata only from specific channels, you will be required to create an Event Driver and an Event Rule Setup Mapping for each channel.
Media Type: Select Unspecified from the drop-down list to allow WideOrbit to send metadata for all events.
Export Type:Select XML from the drop-down list.
Include Hotkeys: By default, data associated with events played from Hotkeys is not exported. Checking this option overrides the default behavior, including the export Hotkey data associated with the configured output channel. In most cases, you will not enable this option.
Delay:Data exports can be delayed to synchronize data export with audio delays. Click the checkbox to enable the Delay option, and set the delay value (in half-second intervals from .5 through 20 seconds.)
PS Mode Refresh Rate: In most cases, you will not enable this option.

Stack Change Event FieldDescription
EventSelect "Stack Change" from the drop-down list.
Export TypeSelect "XML" from the drop-down list.

Step 5 - To complete the Event Driver setup, click "Save".

Event Rule Set Mappings:

Event Rule Set Mappings direct metadata exports to a selected destination when an Event Driver triggers an export.

Step 1 - Select the "Event Rule Set Mappings" tab, and then click the link to "Map Event Rule Set".
