Google has initiated a campaign to collect D-U-N-S numbers for all organizations with a developer account. This guide will help you complete the steps Google requires to be in compliance.
To get started, log into your Google Play Console and look for this message on the Home screen:
Click Get Started.
Then, you will be prompted to select a verification deadline using the drop-down menu. This is simply choosing a deadline by which time you will need provide Google with the requested information to verify your account.
What you'll need to provide when you verify your account
- your legal name and address
- a D-U-N-S number (organizations only)
- a contact phone number for Google Play users to contact you (organizations only)
- an email address for Google Play users to contact you
- a contact phone number and email address for Google to contact you
- an official document to verify your identity
- an official document to verify your organization (organizations only)
After that, you will select your Account Type (typically this is an Organization account). You will then be asked if your organization has a D-U-N-S number and be given the option to provide it. Finally, input your Country.
IMPORTANT: If you provide the D-U-N-S number now, Google may be able to automatically verify your account, preventing the need for the additional verifcation information at a later date.
If you don't know your organization's D-U-N-S number, you can look it up here: https://www.dnb.com/duns-number/lookup.html
On the next page, confirm the choice of deadline and submit.
You will receive an email confirmation of your verification deadline and the next steps for completing the verification:
The last step is to mark your calendar and ensure you submit any required information to Google during your assigned window. Failure to comply could result in your apps being removed from Google Play.
