Insights Streaming Performance Analytics

The Streaming section of your Insights dashboard contains analytics, reporting, and audience measurements for your Futuri Streaming stations.  In this article, we'll explore all sections of your Streaming Audience Insights:

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Overview

The Overview section lets you visualize your station statistics using maps, graphs, and charts.

Filters

By default, the filters will automatically be set to display today's statistics for all your stations across all times of day, but you can use the drop-down menus to change the date range, select one or more stations to view and select or create a daypart.

As you adjust the filters, the data on the page will refresh.

Dayparts

For more fine-tuned reporting, you can use Dayparts to view analytics for certain times of day across multiple days.  For example, if you wanted to analyze listenership during your morning drive, you can create a daypart for those hours.  To create your own daypart, select "Add daypart..." in the drop-down menu and then use the filters to select your desired days/times.

Historical Statistics

Below the filters, you will see a high-level summary of the analytics for the selected stations during the selected time period.

1) Active Sessions:  the total number of sessions connected for at least one minute.

2) Session Starts:  the total number of sessions connected for at least one second.

3) Total Listening Hours:  the sum of the duration of all sessions that were active for at least 1 minute.

4) Bounce Rate:  the percentage of sessions that were started but didn’t remain connected for at least 1 minute

5) Average Time Spent Listening:  the average duration of all active sessions

Below the summary information, you will find a line graph with data about the number of listeners over time, based on the range selected. The time dimension is distributed on the horizontal axis, while the vertical axis reports the values of unique listeners.  When a date range of three days or less is selected, the horizontal axis will show time in hours.

When more than three days are selected, the horizontal axis changes to show time in days.

Real-Time Statistics

By adjusting your date range filter, you can drill into real-time statistics to see data on who is listening at the moment.

The high-level summary adjusts to show statistics on your active sessions right now.

1) Active Sessions:  the total number of sessions connected for at least one minute.

2) Session Starts:  the total number of sessions connected for at least one second.

3) Stations:  the number of stations selected

Below that, you will see a geographic map of your listeners' locations.

The locations are based on the IP of the listening devices and are not the exact physical location of listeners.  Because of the various ways that users on the internet can be assigned IP addresses, the accuracy of this data varies. Determining a listener's country of origin is 99% accurate, but nailing down a specific city from an IP address is between 50% and 80% accurate.

Click and drag to zoom in and get more granular.  Drop the yellow person anywhere on the map to get a street view.

The last section presents more detail about your selected data set in pie graph form. These graphs show the total sessions by different dimensions:

  • by station
  • by country
  • by platform
  • by device

The “See all” link at the top right of each pie graph will redirect you to the Sessions tab, where you can view the full data set.

In the Trends section, you can compare streaming data over time to determine which stations are performing well and which ones need more attention.

Use the search filters at the top to specify your criteria:

1) Date Range:  defaults to "Yesterday" but can be adjusted to suit your needs.

2) Daypart: select or create a daypart

3) Station Picker:  defaults to show data for all stations, but use this menu to narrow the focus to one or more stations

4) Downward Trending Metrics:  choose this option to focus your results on metrics with a downward trend in the last period, the same period last year, or both.

The statistics will be displayed across three ranges in the grid:

1) This Period:  displays the data for the period selected in the filters

2) Last Period:  displays the data for the last period, i.e. period-over-period. For example, selecting the "Last Month" date range will show you month-over-month change.

3) Same Period Last Year: displays the data for the same period last year, i.e. year-over-year

Sessions

In the Sessions section, you can use additional filter criteria to drill further into your listening data.

Along with the standard filters, you can select to view your data broken out by station, platform, device, or country.

For any date range except real-time, you will also have the option to select a time grouping, which groups your data by hour, day, week, or month.

When viewing your results, click on the arrows in the column headers to sort them in ascending or descending order.

For more information on the data shown here, see Metrics and Terms.

Toggle between grid or graphical views using the icons in the upper right.

When viewing the data by country, you can click on a specific country to drill into a view by that country's regions.

Similarly, get more specific device information by clicking on the device type when using that view.

To download your data, click the "Export to CSV" button in the upper right to generate a spreadsheet.

Tracks

In the Tracks section, you can break down your Total Listening Hours (TLH) statistics by artist, giving you insightful information on which artists gain higher listenership.

You can use the filters to change the time frame or select which stations to view.  The "By artist" filter cannot be changed.

To download your data, click the "Export to CSV" button in the upper right to generate a spreadsheet.
